Pregnancy

Lactation
Research suggests that this medicine should be avoided by women who are breastfeeding.

Driving
It may cause blurred vision or dizziness. Hence, driving should be avoided while taking carboplatin if you experience any of these symptoms.

Liver
Patients with impaired liver function should consult their doctor before using carboplatin.

Kidney
Patients with impaired renal (kidney) function should consult their doctor before using carboplatin.

Alcohol
Consumption of alcohol should be avoided while taking carboplatin.

Precautions
As a precaution please monitor peripheral blood counts, renal (kidney) and neurological (brain) function to be monitored closely. Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have severe renal (kidney) impairment, myelosuppression (decreased bone marrow activity), or severe allergy to platinum components or mannitol. What is carboplatin used for? It is used in the treatment of various cancers, like ovarian, head and neck, lungs cancer, etc. What are the most common side effects of this medicine? Nausea, vomiting, lethargy and mild infections are very common side effects of this medicine, that go away go once you stop using it. Can I self-administer this medicine? No, you cannot. Carboplatin is strictly advised to be administered under the supervision of a medical facilitator only. What should be done about the inflammation of the mouth that usually follows the administration of this medicine? This is a temporary effect and will go away once you stop using the medicine. Meanwhile, you are advised to avoid spicy and acidic food.
