Precautions
Patients with kidney and liver impairment, hypertension (high blood pressure), spinal surgery, and anesthesia should be cautious. This medication is contraindicated in patients with major bleeding disorders, thrombocytopenia (low platelet levels), peptic ulcer (open wound in the stomach), acute bacterial endocarditis (inflammation in heart lining), kidney impairment, and increased risk of hemorrhage (abnormal flow of blood). Why is it necessary to have regular doses of enoxaparin after stroke? Stroke can sometimes result in the patient becoming bedridden. Lack of mobility can lead to development of clots in the blood vessels. These clots if not broken down, can result in serious complications, for example a heart attack, or the incidence of another stroke. To avoid these complications, you need regular and monitored doses of enoxaparine. Can I inject enoxaparin on my own? You must not try to administer the drug on your own if you are not in practice. Your doctor or nurse can advise you on correct administration of the drug if you want to do it on your own. Make sure you follow the directions carefully as advised. Do not rub the site of injection, and in case of bruising or redness, consult the physician immediately. Is enoxaparin safe to use in children? Yes it is, however only when the dosage and administration is carefully adjusted and monitored by the doctor. Dosage itself is carefully designed according to the particular condition. Consult your physician. After taking enoxaparin, I feel that I usually feel heartburn. What should I do? Frequent sensation of heartburn can be a result of gastric ulceration, in which case you must discontinue the drug immediately. However, you must consult your physician before you discontinue.
