Primary Uses
This medicine is used in chronic liver disease and hepatic encephalopathy (brain dysfunction that occurs as acresult of severe liver disease).
Side Effects
Side effects include hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), Hyperammonemia (excess ammonia in the blood), hypersensitivity reactions, nausea, vomiting, palpitations, acidosis, chills, fever, and headache.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney disorders and those with abnormal amino acid metabolism.
