This medication is contraindicated in lactating females. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Precautions
Sexual addiction, patients with liver, renal (kidney) and heart diseases, patients with a history of psychosis.

Expert Advice

It is used for parkinsonism (a group of disorders causing difficulty in movement such as tremors, stiffness, slow movements) such as those seen with Parkinson’s disease.

Side Effects

Patients prescribed with this medication may experience cardiac (heart), CNS(brain) disturbances, GI upset, anorexia, BP change, psychiatric disorders, dystonia (uncontrolled muscle contraction),  anemia, alopecia(hair loss), skin reactions, peripheral edema(puffiness), dry mouth, dyspnea(difficulty in breathing), aspiration pneumonia (entry of food or fluid into the lung causing pneumonia), urinary retention and incontinence(difficulty in urinating and holding it in), neck pain, vitB6/B12 deficiency.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with melanoma (type of skin cancer), psychosis (a brain disorder in which you lose touch with reality) and glaucoma (blocked drainage canals in the eye, resulting in a sudden rise in intraocular pressure).
