Primary Uses
This medication is used in the treatment of inflammatory dermatoses (disorders of the skin) where bacterial infection is present or suspected.
Side Effects
Cushingoid changes(changes in the body due to excess production of a hormone in the body called cortisol) ,adrenal suppression (suppression of the adrenal gland which sit on the top of the kidneys and produce hormones in the body), local skin reactions, acne , atrophy(reduction in size) , striae(stretch marks) , telangiectasia(threadlike redlines on the body due widening of tiny blood vessels) ,mild pigmentation , hypertrichosis(excessive hair growth over and above the normal for the age) , pruritus(itch) , folliculitis(common skin disorder caused by inflammation of hair follicles). Hypersensitivity (allergy) reactions.
Contraindications
This medication should not be used in patients with untreated bacterial, fungal or viral infections, or parasitic infestations. Use of this medication on burns, acne or rosacea (common skin disorder that causes redness due to blood vessels being visible on the skin), perioral dermatitis (inflammation of the skin around the mouth) , widespread plaque psoriasis(patches of thick, red scaly skin) among other conditions.
