Primary Uses
This medicine is used to treat potassium depletion especially during administration of diuretics (agents promoting urination).
Side Effects
The patients administered with this medicine may experience gastrointestinal disturbances, esophageal or small bowel obstruction, and ulceration (intestinal inflammation).
Contraindications
The patients with severe renal (kidney) impairment, serum plasma concentration above 5 millimol/ liter, dehydration, conditions associated with hyperkalemia (high potassium levels), gastric obstruction or ulceration (inflammation), significant tissue damage, and metabolic acidosis (metabolic disorder) should avoid use of this medicine.
